You Can Achieve Your Goals

This is just a little post I thought I would write because I'M GRADUATING FROM UNIVERSITY !!! I honestly thought that I would never get to this point. All through school I would be the 'class clown' I mean, if you can't be clever just be funny, right? All through school to college, I was always told that I would never achieve anything or get into university and so after a while I just started believing it. I had in my mind that I wanted to be a comedian, the only skill I had was making people laugh and I enjoyed that. BUT YOU CAN DO IT.

You might be reading this and thinking "you must be smart to get into university though". Like no, that's not it at all. I legit got my English GCSE and that's it, I did Science, Health & Social Care and ITC as BTEC so that's how I ended up with technically four. I got into college by passing their own English and Maths tests, I mean i've had loads of jobs since being 18 so I must be doing something right. But the fact I always tell someone i'm in uni and they straight away think you're cleaver is so joke, I do photography so i'm not saying this could mean the same for someone doing Psychology its totally different i'm saying in my circumstances.

So anyway, through college I was always told I wouldn't get into university and even when I asked for ways to up my grade I was always told that they were 'too busy' like do you not want to see me achieve anything?! I ended up getting MMP when for the university I really wanted to go to accepted DMM, so I spent the last day of college just none stop crying and thought i'd failed at my dreams.

HOWEVER, after being told this I rang up my 'chosen uni' to see whether they would still accept me and they said that based on my interview I could have a place on the course, my portfolio itself had pleased them enough. My college even ended up sending my grades to them late, so whilst I was on holiday I officially didn't find out I was in uni till 3 days before I was due back home. It totally ruined my holiday and I don't understand why my college was doing this to me??!!!

But after all that, i've worked soooo hard these three years in uni even after one of my tutors wanted me kicked off the course at end of first year (why does everyone hate me) I'm just so proud of myself, i've proved that I can achieve something myself and I don't have to be clever I just have to have enough passion and faith in something.

I want you all to take from this, that if you ever get told you won't achieve anything or not get into your university choice GO PROVE THEM WRONG!!!

Life Update

Hi lovelies, long time.. no chat. Most of you probably haven't even noticed i've been away lol.

But, i've took some time off from blogging mainly to focus on my university work and my job. HOWEVER i can officially say that i've handed allll my work in (besides from my presentation, which is next week) I can't wait to just be officially finished and get my grades back next month. Third year has definitely been stressful, but i know that i've done all i can do so i just have to sit back and relax.

Another piece of news is that i've started my driving lessons (!!!!) i've been saving up since i was about 18 and got myself a savers account at the bank to do so, i'm so excited i'm finally getting them done. I wanted to do them as soon as I was back home from university, just because i wouldn't feel comfortable enough starting them in a different town.

I've only done 4 lessons at this point, and i'm not saying i'm amazing but they're going seriously well and my driving instructor is just the best.

That's all the updates i can give my life's pretty much just been work & uni work (how exciting)
I hope to be back to blogging twice a week though :)

Day In The Life Of A Casual Blogger

Hiii Lovelies, I saw this post over on 'Campus Society' by Ruth MacGlip who is a 'fashion communication student' and also 'freelance social media and writing for various brands, magazines and websites' I found it super interesting so thought i'd join bandwagon.

So let's get into it shall we for my usual Monday routine..

8:00 am -  wake up. Check both Twitter accounts, 4 of my Instagram accounts, Facebook, Snapchat, Campus Society, go back onto twitter once more.

8:15- manage to pull myself out of bed, brush my teeth, do my make up, throw on some clothes and trainers, try and style my hair into a decent side part to straighten (which get ruins as soon as i step outside)

9am - leave for university.

9:10 - get into my first lecture just spotting a friend who i can sit next to. Chat about nothing whilst grumbling that it's too early and wishing it was still the weekend. Checking to see if my attendance is good enough for me to just walk out and be back in bed (it's definitely not) Our lecture starts and we get handed a photograph each of someone else's work that they brought in, we then have to write what we think about it.. i of course got the work of the best person in our class like what can i say .. NOTHING IS WRONG IT'S PERFECT. Then have to listen to someone talk about my work, but nothing bad was said so I'm still loving life.

11:15 - we finally have a break from the lecture, go to the canteen downstairs to grab a cookie as big as my head and a bottle of coke just to make me feel somewhat alive ready for our next lecture.

1:15-2:15 the second lecture ended and my stomach is rumbling louder than a fog horn. Me and my friends spend about 15 minutes trying to think where to eat, until deciding on going into weatherspoon. YAY FOR NACHO'S. When we are waiting in queue to order, a fight starts going off with a regular and bar man saying he is barred, and takes his drink off him (banter ) this causes more of a riot and the regular finally gets dragged out after kicking seats and sending bar mats flying. This was the excitement I needed for a Monday lol.

2:15-4:15 - our last lecture of the day. We had a guest speaker come in telling us all about how great her life has been since finishing university and the opportunity's she's managed to have. Yeah thanks for making my Monday afternoon so great. After that's over and no one has any questions to ask, I say goodbye to my friends and walk back home.

4:30-5:00- posted some photographs onto Instagram, one on my photography account and another on my dogs account. I have a dogs Instagram account even though i'm never home so I literally just have it to remind myself what they look like aha. I also watch as one of my scheduled post went live, so started spreading that around on Twitter and Campus Society.

5:00-6:30- watched youtuber's newest uploads of the day; Alfie Deyes, Alice Thorpe, Joe Sugg, Jasmin Clough, SacconeJolys, Caspar and This Morning.. for the lols. Then switch on Channel 4 to watch Hollyaoks.

7:00-7:30 - go the shop to get myself a sandwich, big bag of wotsits, bottle of coke, bread and some milk.

7:30-8:00 - put on itv to watch coronation street.. why does my life revolve around soaps though seriously? I watched this whilst enjoying my chicken and stuffing sandwich.

8:00-8:30 - whilst corrie was on a break i decided to wash some of my plates, write up some plans for blog posts, write up some potential photo ideas for my university idea and debating whether or not to do a blog post on my photography account. I did actually enter some photography competitions to put on my blog though.

8:30-9:00 - watched the second part of corrie.

9:00-12:00 - got myself all ready for bed, got into bed and watched an episode of Celebrity Big Brother since i'm getting way behind. After i'd watched one of them, decided to watch a film, 'Now is Good'. Who doesn't love a good sad film to fall asleep to.

12:00-8:00 - time to fall asleep and do it all over again tomorrow, even though i probably didn't fall asleep till 2/3am.

Hope you found this somewhat interesting ahaha.

All Thing's Books

Hiii lovelys, how are you all? Hope you're all well.

This is a different post but i've been OBSESSED with reading books lately. So i'm just going to talk about books i've been reading lately, I have more at home but I couldn't fit them in my bag to bring back to my uni house (literally the worst). If you have any book recommendations please do tell, as i'm going to be buying more books!!!

I actually have a kindle as well which I used to use all the time but lately i've preferred to read physical copy of books rather than off a screen.. anyone else? Idk it just feels cosier and different, i'm sure i'll probably go back of getting into a routine of reading the kindle but for now i'm loving 'actual books'.

SO my first book i'm going to mention is: The Christmasaurus by Tom Fletcher
Whenever I mention this to friends they're always like "isn't that a child's book?" But yeno what I LOVE IT (!!!!) I actually think it suits all ages and it fully gets you into the Christmas spirit.. I read this before Christmas but just finished it this week as I left it back at uni. I don't wanna do a pure review of these books, but it was just super sweet and think everyone should read it.

The next book is: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them by JK Rowling
Most people have probably heard of this, at first I'm not gonna lie it was kinda slow so I was a bit disappointed but when you get through the first few 'Scenes' I couldn't put it down. I love how it's kinda linked to Harry Potter too where they mention Hogwarts, Dumbledore and Muggles it made me SO happy. I also saw the film and it was exactly like the book described, which I knew it would be because of her Harry Potter series and it's one I can see going back to for a long time.

The next is: The Girl On The Train by Paula Hawkins
My mum and friends have been trying to get me to read this for ages and I don't really know why i'm only just reading it now?? It's so different to what I thought it was going to be like though but again I was obsessed and I got through it in about 2 days! The ending was so unexpected and I was actually getting so scared reading it.. not the best story to read at 2am lol. When I finished it I just wanted to watch the film as i've heard mixed reviews on that too and would be disappointed if it was massively different. It kinda was different like the location and mixed up what was said where, but suppose that was to make the whole movie shorter I don't think it'll be one I'll watch again tbh. The book was deffo better but just my opinion.

The last book i'm going to mention then is: Girl Online, Going Solo by Zoe Sugg (Zoella)
I've loved the whole of her series, and they just get better each time if this is the last one i'll be so disappointed but it would be an amazing ending as well. How good would it be if there was a movie as well?! GOALS. At some points in the book however, I felt like it was so unrealistic I did so many eye rolls but just gotta get past that. Since Zoe suffers with anxiety as well i've always found it so inspiring that she wrote about a character with it as well, raising awareness to it and since the main character is a photographer and blogger I could properly relate to her.. besides her famous boyfriend. After reading this though it gave me SO much motivation to get back out there and producing photographs for my own uni work, so if you want some motivation go ahead and read this!

So, that's all the ones i've read recently if you have any favourite books please do leave them in comments below i'd love to read them, or if you've read any that I have leave your own opinions.

Throwback to Paris | Paris Attack

So, it’s been a year since I went to Paris with my Uni Photography course (sob).

I'm just going to write basically what I was doing whilst in Paris at that time and my feelings towards it. Obviously, I was safe in a Hostel with my course mates and was no where as in danger as people being held hostage, but it was still such a terrifying experience being 10 minutes away from it all.

Friday 13th November
Now, this has always been an unlucky date but like my Mum & Dad got married on Friday 13th so i’m always like omg stop being so superstitious. Nah not anymore.

It all started AMAZING just like the other days cause I WAS IN PARIS!!! We went to Paris Photo which is a massive Photo exhibition and everything there was so good and was giving me such inspiration, my goal is to have my photo’s hanging in there one day. A gal can dream can’t she.

After we spent like 3 hours in there IT WAS MASSIVE. Me and some friends went off to the German Markets and up the Arc De Triomphe I highly recommend going up there too, it was free for students so you just have to really dont you. The stairs though, they’re all worth it. I have a fear of walking down stairs as I always feel like i’m going to fall, and there was about 1,000 if not more so I was walking proper slow and people behind me were getting proper aggy but soz aba me.

After our long day out we went back to the Hostel to get ready for the night as our Tutor had booked us at a restaurant for a meal, as a proper cute photography social how cute is that?? If he hadn’t booked this me and my friends would probably have gone Disneyland which we had booked for the Saturday instead.

ANYWAY, once we’d finished we were walking back to the Hostel and we saw police cars and was just like ohhh whats kicking off?.. We soon realised when we got to the Hostel.

People’s phones were going crazy off their parents saying that there had been bombings not even 10 minutes away from us, even saying there last goodbyes incase something happened to us. I never want to relive anything like this again.

Some of our course mates had stayed back in the restaurant so our tutor ran back to get them and they all came running back in. The hostel wasn’t even aware of what was going on until we told him about our messages from home, they were just as frightened getting extra security and before we knew it the hostel was on lock down. It all seemed so real, I just wanted to be home.

So that's when my Paris trip got cut short, instead of going to Disneyland on the Saturday we were getting the train home instead. We were so lucky to have been going home though, I don’t know how I would have coped having to stay there any longer than necessary with all this going on?!

I can only thank my tutor for taking us out for that meal on the Friday as if we hadn’t gone then, our course would’ve been totally separated and god knows what could’ve happened to any of us. It’s so heartbreaking for the people who were held hostage by ISIS too and all the families who have lost loved ones and had to go through this. My thoughts and prayers are forever with them, you should never feel afraid when going to a gig or meal it’s where you’re meant to feel your happiest.

So all I can say is, never take anything for granted because you never know when a moment could be the last. This seriously put life into perspective for me.
